RED HALL 1960'S MEMORIES
Further to recent Red Hall School articles on the site, our thanks go to Phil Wilson, now of Ironbridge in Shropshire, for the following memories. If anyone can help Phil to locate John Bishop, please email us at friends@yampy.co.uk and we will pass the message on.
My name is Phil Wilson, I went to Red Hall Primary School, then over the road to the Junior school, and finally to Ellowes, which I left in 1969 when we moved to Tettenhall. (A far off foreign land!!).
I was at the primary school from 1961, and have fond memories of being there, and taken by my favourite teacher Mrs Biggs over to the junior school, to meet the headmaster John Barnett. I collected fossils from Cotwall end, and he got me interested in geology and local history, at the age of 6!
I had a mate John Bishop who used to tower over me, someone says he still lives in Lower Gornal, anyone know where he is. I visited Gornal not too long ago, after perhaps 20 years, my how it has changed. (We live in Shropshire now.)
Anyone recall Mrs Flavell, who was a school dinner lady, armed guard in the playground, around 1961-65? She used to bring me the old Brooke Bond Tea Cards to collect, which I still have. (Sad bugger or what!)
All the best
Phil Wilson
Ironbridge
Shropshire.
