Who is Yampy? It's Patent-ly Clear
It's official! Our application to register Yampy (TM!) as a trade mark has recently been
confirmed by the Patent Office.
This followed a nervous 13 week wait, during which time the provisional mark was
published in the industry journal so that any objections could be considered. We fully expected a titanic battle with
Richard Branson or similar, for ownership of what will surely become the first and last great brand name of the 21st Century
(er, prob'ly). But to our great surprise nobody has contested it. Hmm..
Yampy's wife once had her car broken into and the thieves took
everything except her Gene Pitney CD's. She did not know whether to be glad that she still had her beloved
albums, or annoyed that they weren't considered worth nicking. In the same way, we wouldn't have minded a bit of a battle
for the Yampy name!
Gaining the trade mark is just the latest milestone on our mission to 'foster a renewed and genuine community spirit
by maximising the potential of local people to meet local needs'. Shortly we will be carrying out the
long-promised expansion of the Yampy portal, as well as introducing a range of Yampy merchandise
into our Black Country Shop at
www.blackcountryshop.co.uk.
It's really just a matter of time before the whole world goes Yampy. In fact, it often appears as if it already has.
