Fund Raising Reunion Night Success

Recently we told you about a special reunion event at The Lakes Club, held in order to remember Vic's Youth Club in Bank Road while at the same raising money for Mary Stevens Hospice (click here for article).

Organiser Steve Garratt has been in touch to tell us that the evening was a sell-out with 300 people attending and getting on for £1000 raised. Steve has presented a cheque for £750 to the chosen charity and is also making a donation to the Emily Hart fund.

Commenting on the huge contribution by all concerned, Steve told us: "This was a joint effort. Diane Dawes actually came up with the idea and I would like to thank Mick Stevens, Bill Bishop and of course Jamie Carr. Also Bryan and Winky on the door, plus the owners and their staff".

As explained in our original article, the event was in memory of Barrie Woolliscroft whose sister Diane would also like to express her thanks.

The success of the reunion night has prompted many people to ask Steve when the next of his Lakes Club Motown nights will be held. Steve tells us that it depends if the Lakes is still open - but late September 'sounds good'. We will keep you informed once things are finalised.

Please email us with your memories of Vic's Youth Club. In particular, what was Vic's surname? And is he still around? Mick and Steve think that they can remember a colleague of Vic's called 'Len Atkins' or similar. Any information gratefully received. -->
