Local author celebrates debut success
A Gornal born author is rushing out a second edition of his debut novel -
thanks partly to the sales efforts of a furniture shop in the village.
A Fall of Stone by Richard Neath was published three months ago,
a two part tale of a financial adviser embroiled in a fraud whose life is changed forever
by a chilling series of events.
Local business proprietor Paul Harris of
Harris Home Furnishings, an old friend of Richard,
offered to stock the book as soon as it was launched in November and has been surprised by the demand for it.
"A real mad rush!" he commented when we asked how sales are progressing.
"I've only got a few copies left and, at the rate they've been going,
I doubt if they'll last another week."
"It really is a great story" continued Paul "something for everyone in fact! The first part is based in the Midlands
and then it
switches to the Isle of Skye for part two. The descriptions of Skye are so wonderful we've booked a holiday there later in
the year!".
Author Richard, a Gornal lad born and bred, is excited about the response his first book has received.
"Yes, I'm really pleased with how it's gone, the second edition will be out in a few weeks and the last few copies
are selling really quickly. People are talking about it being a collector's item in the future because the first 1000
are all numbered and signed. I hope they're right!"
"It's been a quite amazing few months really, what with newspaper interviews and articles, book signings and radio
appearances - I could do with a break!" he said.
Richard can be contacted at his website
www.richardneath.co.uk
and is always happy to speak to people about his book. He will be signing copies at Darlaston Library
on Saturday the 7th of February and is appearing on the Radio
WM Sunday evening show on the 8th to help promote the 2nd edition.
