MP Expense Claim Stats
Thanks to the forthcoming implementation of the Freedom of Information Act, official figures showing the
expense claims of our politicians have just been released.
Our MP, Dudley North's Ross Cranston received well under the average of £118,937. His total of £108,083 included £71,773
on staff,
£7,194 travel, £249 staff travel, £943 stationary, £3,373 postage, £1, 958 IT provision,
£18,799 on incidental expenses and £3,794 additional costs.
In Dudley South, Ian Pearson claimed £117,984.
MPs are allowed funds for travel, London homes, office and staff costs.
Similar figures are available for local councillors and reveal that Cllr. David Caunt claimed the highest amount
in our area with £22,496; £6,166 basic allowance and £16,330 'responsibility pay'.
