PEACOCKS CUP RUNNETH OVER
Gornal Athletic has been handed two plum cup ties in the FA Vase and FA Youth
Cup for the coming season.
The First Team has been seeded through to the 2nd Qualifying Round of the FA
Vase where they will play either Pershore or Coventry Sphinx for a place in
the First Round Proper. "This will be the 14th time we have played in this
tournament and have only reached the First Round three times in the past"
explained Chairman Chris Smith. "This is a wonderful opportunity to make it
number four. An extended run in this competition would really set us up for
the season." The tie will played on Saturday 27th September.
The week after the Gornal Youth Team will be in action in the FA Youth Cup
when they have a difficult home tie against Nottinghamshire-based Hucknall.
Should they win that match the youngsters will then have home advantage
again against either Arnold Town or Belper Town.
