Delays at Castlegate Island
Dudley Council is warning motorists approaching Dudley town centre they may experience some delays
as the new traffic lights on Castle Gate roundabout are turned on today.
The idea is to improve traffic flow in general and particularly during peak hours.
However, the system will take a while to get used to the varying amounts of traffic at the different parts of the day.
John Woodall, Dudley’s Lead Member for Transportation, said:
“These new signals will mean the traffic flows will be better balanced and reflect the amount of traffic approaching
the roundabout from the different routes. The system has been tested, but it is only in real life conditions that
we can actually set the system to deliver the maximum efficiency for the roundabout.
I hope motorists will be patient if there happen to be any delays while the system is
bedding down over the next few days.”
