School Books Quiz
Gornal
will be host to a borough-wide competition over the next couple of days as
twenty five local primary schools compete in a literacy book quiz final.
Questions are based on books previously read by the children, which have been supplied to schools by
Dudley Council’s Library Service. The level and type of questions will vary and will include a guess
the author round and a multiple
choice section about myths and legends.
Heats started on Monday 8th March, but three teams from different age groups will go forward to the final round,
to be held at the
Schools Library Service, Unit 29, Wallowes Industrial Estate, Lower Gornal on Thursday 18th
and Friday 19th of March.
Councillor Angus Adams, Lead Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, Dudley Council, said:
“The literacy books quiz is a very enjoyable extra curricular activity for primary schools, which encourages
children to read in their spare time and participate in team work. The quiz has taken place annually
for 15 years for schools across the borough and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the staff
at Dudley Council’s Schools Library Service for all their support.”
