Dudley Council get their (sic) Education Award
It may appear to be a belated
April Fool
given
recent events
but Dudley Council has won an award for its work to raise standards in schools!
The Council has been awarded Beacon Council status for its
Transforming the School Workforce scheme, which is about shaping the future development of all schools.
Its main aims are to raise standards in all borough schools, provide a better working environment,
the development of support staff and the reduction of workload for teachers and their recruitment and retention.
Councillor Angus Adams, Lead Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, Dudley Council, said:
“This award marks our achievement and recognises the hard work of front line staff in delivering services.
We will be working closely with the Improvement Development Agency to help other authorities learn from our
experience to enable them to meet the same standards of service as ours.” (our italics).
John Freeman, Director of Education and Lifelong Learning, Dudley Council said:
“Dudley Council and the Directorate of Education and Lifelong Learning are committed to inspiring learning.
By providing a better working environment
we can ensure all our young people get the most out of their education.
This is the same John Freeman who was so ineffective at the last Area Committee Meeting
in responding to audience concerns about the disastrous teacher shortage at Ellowes Hall School.
He's the one next to Council Leader and Gornal resident David Caunt (far right) in the above photo,
holding up a big placard with a basic grammatical error on it (unless there's more than one Dudley Council?).
