Anne Lands Key Council Role
Cllr. Millward
|
Congratulations to Gornal councillor
Anne Millward, who has
been given the plum role of Lead Member for Finance in the Dudley Council chamber following her
recent re-election.
Anne became a Conservative councillor two years ago after inflicting a surprise defeat on
her well established Labour opponent, Jeff Jukes. Since then she has emerged as that rare and engagingly
old fashioned local politician; one who appears genuinely motivated by a desire to improve the
community and therefore puts hard work first and party bickering second. In fact,
we've heard on the grapevine that she could almost as easily have stood for the 'other side'
(hope that 's not too libellous Councillor!)
Speaking to the Dudley News a few days ago, Anne vowed to use her new position to provide 'really good
services and offer the best value for money'. She also reaffirmed her pledge to
carry on the fight to get a car park in Gornal village.
