Princes End & Coseley Station

Many thanks to local rail enthusiast Andy Doherty of www.railaroundbirmingham.co.uk for allowing us to publish this photograph of the old Princes End & Coseley railway station in 1962.

Princes End & Coseley was opened in 1853 by the Oxford, Worcester & Wolverhampton Railway, on the Wolverhampton - Dudley route. Originally the station was named 'Princes End' only, with the '& Coseley' being added some eighty years later in 1936. This is somewhat surprising as the small community of Princes End was served by another station too!

The photo above shows Princes End & Coseley in 1962 looking towards Bradley Road and on to Daisy Bank (photo: Michael Mensing). There are lots more photos and information on Andy's terrific site - thank goodness someone is documenting this disappearing corner of our history and heritage.
