Coseley - A walk back in time
When Yampy launched our online Black Country Shop, one of our first choices for a stock item was Beryl Wilkes' "Coseley A walk back in time". And one of our first customers for it at the Gornal Funday last summer was our MP, Ross Cranston!
The book takes the form of a long stroll through the old 'Great Urban District of Coseley', with plenty of stories and photographs old and new of the places and people that have formed part of the community over the years.
First published in 1883, and even then a somewhat sad and nostalgic record of a disappearing landscape, the book was updated with new images in 1995 and last reprinted in 1998. One still gets the impression when reading it that time is against us and we should do Beryl's walk now, book in hand, before the last remnants of old Coseley are gone forever.
